VTV4 channel introduces four new programs, developed based on extensive research, aiming to specialize content and become a spiritual bridge for the Vietnamese community worldwide.
VTV4 reinvents itself with 4 specialized programs.
Responding to the needs of the Vietnamese community abroad and in light of the changes in the digital age, VTV4 officially launched four new programs in October. This is the result of an extensive social survey conducted across multiple continents, from the United States, Japan, and South Korea to Europe and Africa.
According to journalist Dao Ha, Head of the Department of Overseas Vietnamese Affairs at the Foreign Television Broadcasting Division, this change is a commitment to specializing content to better serve overseas Vietnamese, with the hope of uniting Vietnamese people around the world to look towards their homeland.
Motivation from the new development strategy
The changes at VTV4 were planned months in advance, especially with the decision to broadcast the Vietnam Today channel in April 2025. Vietnam Today will be a channel primarily focused on international affairs in English and other foreign languages, leading to the removal of some programs from VTV4.
"We affirm that this is both a great opportunity and a huge challenge for VTV4. We have always identified VTV4's core audience as the Vietnamese community abroad, and the channel's program innovation aims to clearly demonstrate this specialization," journalist Dao Ha shared.
Based on the results of the audience survey, four new programs have been developed, including:
- Vietnamese Community Newsletter
- Life far away
- Facing towards the Fatherland
- Companion Corner
Modern and interactive approach
VTV4's new programs not only innovate in content but also adopt a modern approach, leveraging the interactive strengths of digital platforms.Companion CornerIt is considered version 5.0 of the previous "Meeting with VTV4 Viewers" segment, where all questions from overseas Vietnamese are answered directly in a modern television setting.
In particular, the programLife far awayFor the first time, digital content produced by viewers themselves is being broadcast on television. Viewers from all over the world can submit videos documenting their daily activities and experiences, thereby showcasing the spirit and intelligence of Vietnamese people in their host countries.
Meanwhile,Facing towards the FatherlandIt is a forum program that gathers contributions and suggestions from the Vietnamese intellectual and business community abroad for the development of the country.
Positive feedback and a desire to reach further.
Despite facing the challenge of time zone differences when working with a global network of collaborators, the production team received very positive feedback from viewers immediately after the programs aired. Journalist Dao Ha said that the suggestions and topic ideas from the community were a great source of motivation, showing that the programs truly addressed the needs of the viewers.
"What the team at the Foreign Affairs Television Department and VTV4 channel hope for is that the programs on VTV4 will act like lenses, helping Vietnamese people at home see the efforts of the Vietnamese community abroad," Ms. Ha emphasized. "We envision the Vietnamese community around the world as a brilliant galaxy, and each overseas Vietnamese is a bright star. VTV4 hopes to keep that light shining so that it continues to spread."
