Car vandalism incident in Truong Vinh ward: Family members apologize to the car owner.
Regarding the incident where Mr. L.D.C.'s car was vandalized in the early morning of January 12, 2026, in Truong Vinh ward, Nghe An province, on January 14, the suspected neighbors came to apologize and expressed their desire to rectify the situation.
Speaking to reporters, Mr. L.D.C, the owner of the vandalized car, said that on the afternoon of January 14th, while the case was under police investigation, some relatives of a suspicious neighbor came to his house to talk. These people expressed their desire to apologize and offered to compensate the car owner for all damages.
“I appreciate their goodwill, but individual apologies cannot replace legal responsibility. The incident happened publicly, was recorded on camera, caused significant property damage, and seriously affected the security and order of the residential area. I cannot accept the apology and hope that the authorities will handle the case appropriately, punishing the right people for their actions according to regulations,” Mr. L.D.C shared.

According to the car owner, on January 14th, he took the car to the dealership for inspection and assessment of the damage. Preliminary results showed that many parts were affected. The total estimated repair cost is over 50 million VND. “Besides the repair costs, the vandalism also reduces the car's usability and resale value. This is not just a matter of money, but also a serious infringement on the legitimate property rights of citizens,” Mr. C added.
As previously reported, at approximately 5:40 AM on January 12, 2026, a person wearing a raincoat, hat, and with their face covered approached the car of Mr. L.D.C., which was parked in front of his house on Phan Dang Luu Street, Truong Vinh Ward, and repeatedly vandalized it with a weapon. Security camera footage shows the perpetrator acting decisively and continuously attacking the front of the car, causing significant damage to many parts.

Notably, prior to the incident, at around 11 PM on January 11th, Mr. L.D.C. called the Truong Vinh Ward Police to remind a neighboring family to stop singing karaoke loudly, which was disrupting their daily lives. The following morning, his car was unexpectedly vandalized.
After the incident was shared on social media, many residents expressed outrage at the blatant disregard for the law and the act of trespassing on other people's property in a residential area. Many opinions suggested that if such acts are not dealt with severely, it will set a bad precedent and create a sense of insecurity for people when leaving their belongings on the street or in front of their homes.

"I trust that the police will work objectively, based on evidence, camera footage, and related documents, to prosecute the right people for the right crimes. Compensation for damages is necessary, but more importantly, the rule of law must be upheld," Mr. C emphasized.
Currently, authorities are consolidating the case file and gathering further statements and documents to facilitate the handling of the case in accordance with the law.
