Panasonic has invented a speaker that can quickly translate Japanese into three other languages.
After the user speaks in Japanese, the speaker will repeat the phrase in English, Chinese, or Korean. Japanese media are calling this a "secret weapon" to serve the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, an event expected to boost foreign visitors to the country.
Loudspeakers for interpretation will also be used in disaster situations. Images published by ANN News show rescue workers using loudspeakers to check on the condition of victims during a disaster.
