The report comes as the US seeks to bolster its military capabilities. The Express reported that Russia's secret weapon has a range of 10,000km.
Leaked reports say Russian President Putin is diversifying Russia's nuclear capabilities to give the country a strategic advantage over the United States.
"In addition to modernizing its Soviet-era nuclear legacy, Russia is developing and deploying new nuclear warheads and delivery vehicles. These efforts include upgrading each arm of Russia's nuclear triad — strategic bombers, sea-launched missiles, and land-based missiles. Russia is also developing at least two new intercontinental ballistic missile systems, nuclear-armed underwater torpedoes, and hypersonic launchers."
The Pentagon report also said that Russia's new missiles also mean that the US needs to make more efforts to match Russia's nuclear capabilities. Accordingly, the US needs to increase its nuclear capabilities in the air, on land and at sea.
According to the Pentagon, the US has no intention of learning from Russian submarines. "The Pentagon does not intend to develop underwater drones capable of launching nuclear weapons."
The Pentagon could not deny the leak. The agency said in a statement that "our discussions were very productive and some drafts were taken. However, the nuclear position paper is not yet complete and must be approved by the President and the Secretary of Defense."
