Hao Hao instant noodles contain banned substances: Ministry of Industry and Trade takes action

The Ministry of Industry and Trade said that as soon as it received the warning information, the Ministry of Industry and Trade requested Acecook Vietnam Joint Stock Company to urgently report on the production process and the difference between the domestic and export product batches for the two products Hao Hao noodles and Good vermicelli produced by the company to assess the presence of Ethylene Oxide (a substance not on the list of substances regulated on maximum residue limits of pesticides in food according to Circular 50/2016/TT-BYT of the Ministry of Health) in the product as stated in the warning.

At the same time, the Ministry of Industry and Trade directed functional units to coordinate in reviewing the entire list of products currently distributed domestically by Acecook Vietnam Joint Stock Company, verify and clarify the production process and identify any violations, if any, to protect consumer rights in accordance with the provisions of the Law on Food Safety of Vietnam.

Organizations and individuals producing and trading food in violation of food safety laws shall, depending on the nature and severity of the violation, be subject to administrative sanctions or criminal prosecution. If causing damage, they must compensate and remedy the consequences in accordance with the provisions of law.

Previously, some press agencies reported that the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) said it had recalled a number of instant noodle products due to the presence of Ethylene Oxide, including Hao Hao vermicelli and spicy instant noodles of Acecook Vietnam Joint Stock Company exported to this market./.
