HIV Exposure Suspected: 11 More People Must Take Medication

According to Dr. Nguyen Van Don, Head of the Department of HIV/AIDS Examination and Treatment and Addiction Treatment, Kon Tum Province HIV/AIDS Prevention Center, as of July 3, there were 11 more people suspected of being exposed to HIV while participating in the rescue of the tragic accident that occurred on National Highway 14, through Village 11, Dak Hring Commune, Dak Ha District (Kon Tum) on June 30.
Thus, the total number of people suspected of being exposed to HIV in this accident is now 35.
These 11 people, including 10 medical staff and doctors from Dak Ha District Medical Center and 1 police officer from Kon Tum Province, were given HIV exposure treatment drugs on July 3.
Dr. Don said that all of these cases were examined, tested, and given free anti-exposure medication in a timely manner according to the treatment regimen within 72 hours. Through initial testing, all 35 cases tested negative.
Also on the afternoon of July 3, the Traffic Safety Committee of Kon Tum province directly gave special rewards to organizations and individuals who participated in rescuing people in the above traffic accident.
On the same afternoon, Mr. Dao Duy Khanh, Director of Kon Tum Provincial Department of Health, brought the working delegation to Dak Hring commune to meet and thank Mr. Le Van T, who used his family's truck to take 8 traffic accident victims to the hospital for emergency treatment./.
