Large explosion in Bac Ninh: Owner of scrap metal warehouse detained for investigation.
Police have detained the owner of the scrap metal warehouse for investigation into the cause of the large explosion in Quan Do village (Van Mon commune, Yen Phong district, Bac Ninh province) that killed two children and hospitalized several others.
At noon on January 3rd, Mr. Nguyen Tu Quynh, Chairman of the People's Committee of Bac Ninh province, stated that the explosion occurred at an unoccupied scrap metal warehouse in Quan Do village at 4:30 AM that same day. The force of the explosion was so great that it caused four houses near the warehouse to collapse and be almost completely destroyed.

According to Mr. Quynh, at noon on January 3rd, the explosion site was still being cordoned off so that military engineers could use equipment and machinery to search for any remaining explosive materials. Simultaneously, professional units of the Bac Ninh Provincial Police were examining the scene and investigating to determine the cause of the explosion.
The Chairman of Bac Ninh province also stated that it has been basically determined that the explosion was caused by people collecting explosive materials and storing them in a warehouse to sell as scrap metal. |

The police and military are urgently investigating the origin of the aforementioned explosives. If there are signs of criminal activity, the authorities will initiate criminal proceedings.
At the scene, authorities seized several projectiles. Around the explosion site, many local residents also collected numerous projectiles.

According to the leaders of Yen Phong district, the explosion occurred at an unoccupied scrap metal warehouse owned by Mr. Dang Dinh Tien. Mr. Tien has been in the scrap metal business for many years.
During the explosion, numerous fragments and metal pieces were scattered around, killing two children and injuring many others.

Chairman of the People's Committee of Bac Ninh province, Nguyen Tu Quynh, has requested the People's Committee of Yen Phong district to promptly organize visits, offer encouragement, and provide assistance to the victims and their families.
At approximately 2:30 PM on January 3rd, while cleaning up a wood processing factory (about 300 meters from the explosion site in Quan Do village, Van Mon commune, Yen Phong district), a young man was injured while picking up a projectile.
According to eyewitnesses, the young man was sweeping the factory floor when a projectile exploded, injuring him in his hands, legs, and face.
