Billion-dong savings and loan collapse case: Retired teacher prosecuted
Regarding the case of a broken savings association with an amount of up to more than 40 billion VND, the authorities have just prosecuted the defendant Ngo Thi Lan for fraud and property appropriation.
Regarding the collapse of the savings association that occurred in Vong Nguyet village (Tam Giang commune, Yen Phong district, Bac Ninh province), on September 17, Yen Phong district police said that they had issued a decision.prosecuteagainst Ms. Ngo Thi Lan (in Tam Giang commune) for fraud and property appropriation.
Previously, since the beginning of May 2024, public opinion has been stirred up about the billion-dollar savings association collapse in Vong Nguyet village (Tam Giang commune).
According to the victims, the owner of the hui, Ngo Thi Lan, announced that the ledger had been destroyed. All information about the players and the monthly payments were no longer available.
According to Yen Phong District Police, the verification process encountered many difficulties, because all documents and original books were destroyed, while the number of players was large, it was not known who was playing in the same group and who received the monthly hui.
However, with the determination to restore justice for the people, Yen Phong District Police have arranged investigators to collect information, urgently verify and investigate to clarify.
Initially, Yen Phong District Police determined that Ms. Ngo Thi Lan had established dozens of hui groups, including 3 groups established since 2022.
Each hui chain has 25-30 players, however, the actual number of recipients is only 3-5 people; the leader Ngo Thi Lan impersonated the members of the chain to receive money. The leader used all of the money for personal expenses.
According to Mr. Nguyen Van Ha - Vice Chairman of Tam Giang Commune People's Committee, Ms. Ngo Thi Lan is a retired teacher.
Regarding the above hui collapse, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Bac Ninh province assigned the People's Committee of Yen Phong district to coordinate with relevant agencies to continue implementing measures to resolve the incident and stabilize public opinion.
Bac Ninh Provincial Police said that this is not the first hui collapse case to occur in Bac Ninh, but it is the first case in which the hui owner has been criminally prosecuted. The case is currently being further investigated by the Provincial Police Department and strictly handled according to the law.
