Just released from prison, only to be caught again for drug trafficking.

(Baonghean.vn) - Thanh and his wife, who had just been released from prison after serving time for illegally trafficking drugs, were arrested by the police while attempting to sell drugs again.

On April 25th, Lieutenant Colonel Tran Van Khang, Deputy Head of the Dien Chau District Police, stated that the unit is finalizing the case file to prosecute Vi Thi Thanh (born in 1964), residing in Khe Kien village, Luu Kien commune, Tuong Duong district, for the illegal trafficking of narcotics.

In the early days of 2017, the Dien Chau District Police received information about a suspicious stranger who frequently appeared in the area.

After a period of verification, investigators learned that the suspect was from a mountainous area and frequently brought drugs down to Dien Chau for sale. Police identified the suspect as Vi Thi Thanh (born in 1964), residing in Khe Kien village, Luu Kien commune, Tuong Duong district.

On the afternoon of April 19th, Thanh took a bus heading south. When the bus reached the intersection in Dien Chau town, she called her partner to meet at the designated point to receive the goods. Just as she got off the bus, the police swooped in and caught her red-handed with a package of white powder suspected to be heroin hidden in her handbag.

During questioning at the investigative agency, Thanh confessed that she had previously been imprisoned, and her husband had recently completed a 19-year prison sentence for illegally trafficking narcotics.

After making a deal, Thanh went to the village to buy the goods for 5 million dong and planned to resell them to a partner in the lowlands for nearly 40 million dong. Authorities, after examination, concluded that the white powder was heroin, weighing 35.8 grams.
