4,000 acacia trees in Nghe An were chopped down to the roots by bad guys

According to the report of the family of Mr. Phung Van Hue and Ms. Tran Thi Hoa (residing in hamlet 4, Thanh Son commune, Anh Son district), on the night of June 23, the family's acacia plantation, which was over 1 year old, planted in Ke Gia village, Thach Ngan commune (Con Cuong) was vandalized by thieves.

Mr. Phung Van Hue said that the acacia tree destruction had been going on for about 20 days but was worst on the night of June 23. Before that, he had bought B40 steel mesh to fence it but it was continuously cut by thieves. The acacia trees that had grown well were all cut down to the base and destroyed en masse.

“They used knives to cut off half of the tree’s trunk. Just one strong wind can split the tree, split it in two, and kill it. It is estimated that about 4,000 trees were cut down, causing the family to lose over 60 million VND,” said Mr. Hue.

Ms. Tran Thi Hoa also added that her family here has never had any conflicts with anyone, so when the acacia garden was cut down, they did not know who to suspect.

Mr. Ngan Xuan Nhung - Chairman of the People's Committee of Thach Ngan Commune said that up to now, the person who destroyed Mr. Phung Van Hue's acacia garden has not been identified.

Regarding this issue, Mr. Vi Van Tuyen - Chief of Thach Ngan Commune Police said that the case is being investigated by the commune police in coordination with Con Cuong District Police.
