Traveling nearly 800 km to steal a safe.
Tran Van Chien and Le Huu Thang twice took a bus, traveling nearly 800 km from Gia Lai to Ha Tinh, to break into several houses, smash safes, and steal money and gold.
On December 13th, Chien (47 years old) and Thang (44 years old) were charged and detained by the Thach Ha District Police (Ha Tinh province) for the crime of "Theft of property, according to Article 173 of the 2015 Penal Code.

According to the investigation, on November 5th, Chien and Thang took a motorbike and spent nearly 2 million VND to take a sleeper bus from Gia Lai to Thach Ha district. They rode together to the two-story house of Mr. Nguyen Duy Hanh (residing in Thach Ha town), broke through a window, entered the house, broke open a safe, and stole money and several gold necklaces.
After committing the crime, the two young men took the gold to Quang Binh to sell it, divided the money, and then took a bus back to Gia Lai. After a week, when they had spent all the money, Chien and Thang returned to Ha Tinh and continued to break into the homes of two people, stealing property.

Based on the victim's report, the Thach Ha District Police sent detectives to investigate in many provinces and cities nationwide, and on December 11th, they tracked down the whereabouts of Chien and Thang.
Authorities allege that the property stolen by the two thieves in three separate burglaries was worth hundreds of millions of dong. In addition to a motorbike with a Dak Lak license plate and a crowbar used to break open safes, police also recovered a significant amount of cash, gold rings, and gold necklaces.
Thang has a prior conviction for the crime of ""Robbery";Chiến has three previous convictions.Theft of propertyHe was released from prison at the end of 2018.
