During use, several cases of severe adverse events following vaccination have been recorded, but upon review, it was found that the deaths were mainly coincidental with other illnesses. The rate of severe adverse events related to the diphtheria, pertussis (whole-cell), and tetanus (three components in Quinvaxem) vaccine in Vietnam is currently 4.5/1 million doses administered, while the WHO statistics show a rate of 1-20/1 million doses. The mortality rate among children after Quinvaxem vaccination has not increased compared to previous years. Quinvaxem vaccine has been used in 94 countries worldwide with approximately 449 million doses administered. In Southeast Asia, this vaccine is used in Thailand, the Philippines, Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam.
