Nghi Thinh commune (Nghi Loc district) has achieved the new rural standard.

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of April 29th, Nghi Thinh commune, Nghi Loc district, held a ceremony to receive the certificate recognizing it as a new-style rural commune. Attending the ceremony were Mr. Ho Ngoc Sy, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and Deputy Head of the National Target Program Coordination Board on New Rural Development of the province, leaders of Nghi Loc district, and a large number of people from Nghi Thinh commune.

Comrade Ho Ngoc Sy, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, presented the certificate recognizing Nghi Thinh commune as having achieved New Rural Area standards to its leaders.

In 2011, Nghi Thinh commune embarked on the national target program for building new rural areas with a low starting point, lacking many infrastructure facilities, and experiencing slow socio-economic development. The entire commune only met 5 out of 19 criteria. However, thanks to the unity and efforts of the Party Committee, the government, the entire political system, and all the people, the face of Nghi Thinh's new rural area has improved significantly, and the lives of the people have gradually been enhanced.

The total funding mobilized for rural development in Nghi Thinh commune over the past nearly five years has reached more than 230 billion VND, of which the people contributed 60%. In addition, the people have also voluntarily donated 12.6 hectares of garden land and agricultural land to expand rural and inter-field transportation routes.

To date, Nghi Thinh has completed and put into use 12 km of concrete village roads. The irrigation system has been upgraded to basically meet the requirements for irrigation and production.

In 2015, per capita income reached over 27 million VND, and the poverty rate decreased to 4.2%. 95% of the working-age population had regular employment. Security and social order remained stable, and social vices were kept under control.

At the ceremony, Mr. Ho Ngoc Sy, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Nghe An province, presented the certificate recognizing Nghi Thinh commune as a New Rural Area in 2015 and awarded the commune 500 million VND to build a public welfare project in the near future. Nghi Loc district also awarded the commune 300 million VND to build a public welfare project in the area.

On this occasion, 4 collectives and 4 individuals were awarded certificates of merit by the Provincial People's Committee for their outstanding achievements in the local new rural development movement; the leaders of Nghi Loc district also presented certificates of merit and awards to 5 collectives and 5 individuals who made significant contributions to the new rural development of Nghi Thinh commune during the 2011-2015 period.
