Nghia Yen commune (Nghia Dan district) is determined to build its homeland into an increasingly prosperous and beautiful place.
(Baonghean.vn) - For the past 70 years, under the leadership of the Party Committee, the people of Nghia Yen district have always upheld the spirit of unity, combined strength, dynamism, and creativity, achieving many great accomplishments in various fields, pioneering on the path of innovation, and building a more prosperous, beautiful, and civilized homeland.
Nghia Yen commune is located in the northwest of Nghia Dan district, bordering Nhu Xuan district, Thanh Hoa province. With a natural area of 3,466 hectares, it is a strategically important area in terms of economy, politics, and national defense and security. The commune has a total population of 6,937 people, with two main ethnic groups: the Tho and the Kinh, of which ethnic minorities account for 55.7%.

A land rich in revolutionary traditions.
Going back in history, in 1885, King Đồng Khánh renamed Nghĩa Đường district to Nghĩa Đàn district. The Nghĩa Yên area then belonged to Hòa Hợp commune, Lâm La district. Until mid-1947, implementing the policy of reducing district levels and strengthening commune levels, Nghĩa Đàn district merged 61 old villages into 16 large communes. The Nghĩa Yên area then belonged to Tân Lập commune (Lâm La district) – this was the foundation for new developments in the revolutionary struggle of the people in this area. Many comrades from the Tân Lập Party Committee were the precursors and core members of the later Nghĩa Yên Party Branch, representing a generation of exemplary, steadfast individuals who were tempered and tested through many practical activities.

By the end of 1953, following the policy of dividing large communes into smaller ones, Tan Lap commune was divided into five smaller communes, and Nghia Yen commune was born from that, comprising the villages of Canh, Chong, Be, Moc, Moi, Nham, and Dua, with the majority of the population being ethnic Tho people. During the national resistance wars, Nghia Yen commune served as a base for workshops repairing weapons, vehicles, and artillery for the army; it was also the base for the unit that reformed the puppet army (Unit K4); and it was an evacuation point for people in key areas attacked by the enemy. Of Nghia Yen's sons and daughters, 249 joined the army, 85 volunteered for the youth front, 165 participated in the civilian labor force, 72 were wounded or sick soldiers, and 25 were martyrs.

Building upon the revolutionary traditions of Nghia Yen commune in the struggle for national liberation and implementing the reform initiated and led by the Party, the Nghia Yen Commune Party Committee has applied the policies of the Central Government, the province, and the district to issue resolutions guiding and directing the implementation of socio-economic development tasks in line with the local reality. Despite a low starting point and the difficulties of a commune under Program 135, under the leadership of the Commune Party Committee through various periods, the people of Nghia Yen commune have always maintained their tradition of unity, wholeheartedly following the Party, striving to build Nghia Yen into a commune with an increasingly developed economy and strong national defense and security.
