Phong Thinh Commune (Thanh Chuong) received the Decision to achieve advanced new rural standards.

Many bright spots from new rural construction

Located in a semi-mountainous area, far from the district center, Phong Thinh commune has a low starting point; the majority of people's lives depend on agricultural production. After more than 10 years of persistently implementing the National Target Program on New Rural Development, the locality has made strong changes.

The results recognized by the Provincial People's Committee as meeting the new rural standards in 2019 and meeting the advanced new rural standards in 2024 have demonstrated the comprehensive development of the locality through the completion of 19 general criteria on rural planning, synchronous investment in infrastructure: electricity, roads, schools, stations, cultural - sports facilities, residential housing...; the quality of life of the people has been improved; the political system has been consolidated.

Phong Thinh commune stands out, from a purely agricultural economy, monoculture of rice, now there is a diversity of commercial crops, such as potatoes, sweet corn on the fields and black canarium, oranges, grapefruit, jackfruit in gardens and hills. Livestock farming has been developed in scale and total herd of cows, pigs, chickens, deer; 5 households and farms have been formed with an income of 300 - 500 million VND/year/farm.

Industries and services are also developed in conjunction with labor export with more than 250 workers working in other countries. The average income per capita in Phong Thinh commune in 2024 will reach more than 57 million VND; the poverty rate will decrease to 2.54%.

At the announcement ceremony, comrades Nguyen Hong Nham - Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Phong Thinh commune and Trinh Van Nha - Deputy Secretary of the District Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Thanh Chuong district affirmed the role of solidarity and innovation in leadership and direction of the Party Committees, authorities and organizations in the political system from the commune to the hamlets. Consistently implementing the policy of "5 dong": unity of mind, unity of heart, unity of mind, unity of strength, and companionship" and "4 together": discussing together, deciding together, doing together, and enjoying together; linking the launch of the "1+1" movement - each organization and individual is associated with a meaningful project, model, and work, contributing to improving the quality of new rural and advanced new rural criteria...

In particular, the locality has aroused and promoted the spirit of self-reliance, self-improvement, and solidarity of cadres, party members, and people in contributing money, working days, and donating land and property through strictly implementing the motto: "People know, people discuss, people do, people supervise, and people enjoy".

Of the total resources of more than 167 billion VND mobilized to serve the construction of new rural areas and advanced new rural areas of the locality, more than 97 billion VND was contributed by people and their children living far from home. In the 4 years of building advanced new rural areas (2021 - 2024), people contributed more than 18/32 billion VND.

New development opportunities

Speaking at the Ceremony to receive the Certificate of recognition for meeting advanced new rural standards, Chairman of Thanh Chuong District People's Committee Trinh Van Nha emphasized: Based on the achieved foundation, along with a number of bridge and road projects that have just been put into use and continued to be invested in, at the same time, orienting the plan to merge Phong Thinh and communes in the Cat Ngan area, with Phong Thinh as the center, these are conditions that open up opportunities for the locality to continue to develop further in the coming time.

The Chairman of Thanh Chuong District People's Committee also oriented a number of issues for the Party Committee and the government of Phong Thinh commune, focusing on promoting the application of science and technology, increasing the value of agricultural production, linking development and expanding the scale of industries, services and trade.

Take care of cultural and social development; especially improve the quality of spiritual life, take care of health and social security for people and improve the quality of comprehensive education.

Localities also need to focus on ensuring security and order, resolutely repelling social evils, building a solid national defense posture and people's security posture; building a strong political system to meet the requirements of the new situation.

At the announcement ceremony, on behalf of the Provincial People's Committee, Ms. Vo Thi Nhung - Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment presented the decision and Certificate of recognition of meeting the advanced new rural standards in 2024 to Phong Thinh commune of the Provincial People's Committee, along with a reward of a project worth 600 million VND; awarded Certificates of Merit of the Provincial People's Committee to 1 collective and 2 individuals with many outstanding achievements in building advanced new rural areas.

Thanh Chuong District People's Committee also awarded Certificates of Merit to 5 collectives and 5 individuals with outstanding achievements in building advanced new rural areas.
