Quang Chau commune presents gifts to encourage the family of the brave young man who rescued people in the Hanoi fire.
On the morning of March 27th, the authorities of Quang Chau commune (Nghe An province) visited, encouraged, and presented gifts to the family of Mr. Nguyen Van Cuong, from But Tran hamlet, who bravely participated in rescuing people during the Hanoi fire that has attracted nationwide attention in recent days.
During a conversation with the family, the Quang Chau commune authorities kindly inquired about the health of Mr. Cuong, who is currently receiving treatment in Hanoi for smoke inhalation sustained while participating in the rescue operation. They also wished him a speedy recovery so he could return to his work and daily life.

Mr. Phan Xuan Hoan, Chairman of the Fatherland Front Committee of Quang Chau commune, shared: "In recent days, information about the courageous act of Mr. Nguyen Van Cuong has spread widely through the media, receiving admiration and respect from the community nationwide. This is a source of pride not only for his family but also for the entire locality. Mr. Cuong's actions clearly demonstrate a spirit of selflessness. We hope he recovers soon and continues to work and contribute."

In response to that outpouring of support, Mr. Cuong's family expressed their gratitude and deep appreciation to the Party Committee, the government, and the people for their timely concern and encouragement. Mr. Nguyen Van Hung, Mr. Cuong's father, said that since the incident occurred, the family has continuously received calls of inquiry and support from relatives, neighbors, and organizations. The concern of everyone has been a great source of encouragement for the family. "We only hope that our son will recover his health soon and return home safely; that is the most important thing," he said.
Sharing similar feelings, Ms. Vo Thi Lien – Cuong's mother – said that the family was worried when they learned that their son had rushed into the fire, but mixed with that was a sense of pride. Any parent would worry, but seeing their child do something useful for society makes them very happy. The family would like to thank the local authorities and the community for their concern and encouragement.

Not only his family, but also the people of But Tran hamlet expressed their pride in their hometown son. According to local residents, Cuong is a kind, compassionate person who is always ready to help others, so this courageous act was not too surprising to those who know his character.
Earlier, on the afternoon of March 24th, a large fire broke out in a six-story house with an attic in alley 218 Linh Nam (Hoang Mai ward, Hanoi), trapping seven people in a dangerous situation. In this life-or-death moment, Mr. Nguyen Van Cuong, originally from Quang Chau commune, Nghe An province, who was renting a house near the scene, did not hesitate to join many other residents in trying to reach and rescue people amidst the thick smoke and flames.
With quick thinking, Mr. Cuong and others climbed over to the adjacent construction site, creating an access point and safely rescuing the victims one by one. During this process, he directly assisted the elderly and carried the young children to safety. Only after all seven people were rescued did he leave the scene, feeling dizzy from inhaling a lot of smoke, and was taken to the hospital for emergency treatment.

This timely recognition is not only a well-deserved reward for courageous actions but also contributes to promoting examples of good people and good deeds in society.
