Shooting in the Philippines: Two students killed, perpetrator commits suicide.
On September 18, a tragic shooting occurred at a high school in southern the Philippines, leaving two students dead and eight others injured. The perpetrator, a fellow student, took his own life after the attack.
Local rescue forces said the incident occurred at approximately 1:30 p.m. on the grounds of Banga Public High School, located in South Cotabato province on Mindanao island.
Rizalie Dedel, a disaster response officer, confirmed that the two deceased victims were a male and a female ninth-grade student. South Cotabato Governor Reynaldo Tamayo stated that the suspect was a classmate of the victims. Currently, four of the eight injured are in critical condition, and all victims are students aged 14-17.
Initial information indicates that the suspect stole the handgun from a safe in the family home and reportedly informed two friends of his plan shortly after lunch.
Authorities in Banga town have temporarily suspended classes at all levels following the shooting. Authorities are investigating the cause and circumstances of the incident.
