(Baonghean.vn) - According to a summary by the authorities, there are 111 brothel owners and pimps in Nghe An province, with approximately 217 prostitutes. Some areas with complex prostitution problems include Vinh City, Cua Lo Town, Dien Chau, and Quynh Luu.
In the first six months of 2018, authorities discovered and arrested 29 cases involving 89 individuals engaged in prostitution (an increase of 9 cases and 30 individuals compared to the same period in 2017).

The provincial inter-agency inspection team 178 conducted inspections at businesses providing services subject to security and order regulations throughout the province. Notably, the team successfully dismantled a prostitution ring supplying sex workers to customers in Vinh City, apprehending one pimping ring and three couples engaged in prostitution. They seized over 3.3 million VND and three condoms.

According to a survey conducted in the province, there are currently 3,113 establishments providing services that are prone to prostitution, employing over 8,987 people. Of these, 65 establishments offer massage services with 317 employees; 345 karaoke and bar establishments with 745 employees; 1 nightclub with 25 employees; 479 accommodation establishments with 4,208 employees; and the remainder are hair salons, restaurants, and similar services.
In the province, there are 111 brothel owners and pimps, approximately 217 prostitutes, and prostitution is present in 10 out of 21 districts and 21 out of 480 communes, wards, and towns. The four areas with the most complex prostitution problems are Vinh City, Cua Lo Town, Dien Chau, and Quynh Luu.

Recently, numerous prostitution rings operating through social media platforms have emerged in Vinh City. By creating accounts on Zalo and Facebook, these pimps recruit women to join their networks.
Authorities acknowledge that while the prostitution problem has only superficially improved, it continues to have a negative impact on society. The management of conditional business sectors, individuals suspected of involvement in prostitution, and establishments exploiting service businesses for prostitution purposes are not yet rigorous. Some legal regulations governing conditional service businesses are not aligned with the actual situation.
