The traffic police officer who drove the car that hit and killed a person and then fled the scene has been identified.
The traffic police officer who caused the accident resulting in one death has been identified as Major Thai Van Hung, currently working at the Traffic Police Team of Chau Duc District Police.
On July 8th, the Chau Duc District Police (Ba Ria-Vung Tau province) announced that they are coordinating with the District People's Procuracy and other professional units to investigate the cause of an accident that resulted in one death in the district.
According to the Chau Duc District Police, at approximately 10:30 PM on July 6th, a traffic accident occurred in Chau Duc District between a car and a motorbike. As a result, the motorbike driver died, and the car fled the scene after the accident.

Investigations have identified the driver of the car involved in the collision with the motorbike as Major Thai Van Hung, currently working at the Traffic Police Team of Chau Duc District Police.
According to the leaders of Chau Duc district, Hung's initial statement indicates that after causing the accident, he thought the victim was only slightly injured, which is why he left the scene.
After traveling a few kilometers, Mr. Hung caused another accident, fortunately without injuring anyone, but he himself was injured and is currently receiving treatment in Ho Chi Minh City.
Regarding the suspected case of Mr. Hung driving under the influence of alcohol, the police stated that this cannot be confirmed yet and they must wait for the test results. The police are still conducting an investigation.
Earlier, at approximately 10:30 PM on July 6th, Mr. Duong Van Tot was riding his motorbike on National Highway 56, heading from Ba Ria City to Long Khanh City (Dong Nai Province). As he neared his home, he was rear-ended by a car with license plate 150.62 traveling in the same direction. The victim was thrown about 20 meters from the point of impact. His motorbike, meanwhile, was trapped under the car and dragged for nearly 100 meters before stopping.
According to Duong Tan Loc (the victim's son), when he saw his father's motorbike under the car, he asked the driver to reverse so he could check. The driver got out, said a few words, then reversed and sped away from the scene. Not seeing his father under the car, Loc ran back and discovered the victim lying dead on the side of the road.
On July 7th, a man who identified himself as Mr. Hung's biological father and another woman who identified herself as Mr. Hung's mother-in-law visited the victim's family home to offer condolences and light incense after the accident.
