'The Mummy' returns with Tom Cruise
To counter Marvel's superhero "universe", Universal decided to create a monster series. The Mummy is the opening film of this studio's "monster universe".
The Mummy was released in 1999, starring Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz, and really stunned audiences around the world. Because the story of the tombs of the Egyptian Pharaohs has always been an extremely attractive mystery, now being incorporated into an action, adventure and horror movie, it has an irresistible appeal.

The second film, The Mummy Returns, was released in 2001 and continued to be successful. The third film, The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor (2008), was not as successful as the first two. All three films brought in $1.4 billion in global revenue for Universal.
However, Universal has decided to reboot The Mummy.
Universal's new Mummy trailer shows that this adventure will continue to maintain the hero and beauty model. Hero actor Tom Cruise, playing Nick Morton, will join the beautiful Annabelle Wallis in the adventure to the world of mummies.
