Construction of Duc Son Bridge connecting the two banks of the Lam River in Nghe An Province.
The investment project to build the Duc Son bridge in Vinh Tuong and Anh Son communes has just been approved by the People's Committee of Nghe An province, and a contractor selection plan has been issued. According to the decision, the bridge will be built to complete the vital transportation route across the Lam River, contributing to connecting infrastructure between the two banks, serving the needs of travel, production, rescue operations, promoting socio-economic development, and ensuring national defense and security in the western region of Nghe An.
Duc Son Bridge, located in Vinh Tuong and Anh Son communes (Nghe An province), is a large bridge constructed of permanent reinforced concrete and prestressed reinforced concrete, designed to withstand HL-93 loads. The bridge is 12 meters wide, with an 11-meter carriageway, and comprises 10 spans. It is navigable on a Class IV river.
The bridge consists of 10 girder spans, with an asphalt concrete surface. The approach roads at both ends of the bridge have a total length of 3,258 m (including the bridge).

The project aims to construct a bridge across the Lam River, connecting National Highway 7 to Provincial Road 534 in Duc Son commune. This will connect the transportation infrastructure between communes and towns on both the right and left banks of the Lam River, facilitating travel and production for the people and improving rescue and relief efforts during the rainy season. Furthermore, it will strengthen intra-regional and inter-regional connectivity with neighboring communes, contributing to the completion of the transportation network and promoting socio-economic development in the area.
The road section at both ends of the bridge includes Khe Sung 2 Bridge, located across Khe Sung stream in Vinh Tuong commune, Nghe An province. The bridge consists of a single girder span, with each span having a cross-section of 5 girder segments, and an embankment roadbed. The road section has a 12m wide embankment, a design load for vehicles of 10 tons, and an asphalt concrete pavement structure.
The project has a total investment of 300 billion VND, including: compensation, support, and resettlement costs of approximately 38.1 billion VND; construction costs of 225.2 billion VND; project management costs of 3.4 billion VND; consulting costs of 11.5 billion VND; other costs of 4.408 billion VND; and contingency costs of 17.397 billion VND.
The project is expected to be completed within 4 years from the commencement date. Upon completion, the Duc Son bridge will become a key transportation project, creating new impetus for development in Vinh Tuong commune, Anh Son commune, and the western region of Nghe An province. It will contribute to completing the inter-regional transportation infrastructure network, expanding development space, and connecting the midland and mountainous regions with the plains of Nghe An.
The Provincial People's Committee assigns the Department of Construction the responsibility of organizing the next steps and selecting contractors according to the approved contractor selection plan, ensuring compliance with current regulations.
According to Mr. Nguyen Huu Sang, Secretary of Anh Son commune, the Nghe An Department of Construction (the investor) is currently implementing a plan to select a contractor to carry out the Duc Son Bridge construction project across the Lam River.
The contractor selection method will be open online bidding, with the selection process expected to begin in the third quarter of 2025.
