Developing Nghe An into a logistics hub in the North Central region.
The People's Committee of Nghe An province has assigned the Department of Industry and Trade to take the lead in coordinating with relevant departments, agencies, localities, and units to develop a logistics development plan, aiming to make Nghe An a logistics center in the North Central region.
The People's Committee of Nghe An province recently issued Decision No. 1769/QD-UBND dated July 16, 2024, approving the outline and tasks for the project "Developing Nghe An province into a logistics center of the North Central region by 2023, with a vision to 2045".
The objective of this project is to objectively and honestly analyze and evaluate the current state of logistics service development in the province over the past period, and to propose viewpoints, objectives, tasks, resources for implementation, solutions, and mechanisms and policies for developing logistics services in order to create strong regional and international linkages, contributing to the development of Nghe An province into a logistics center of the North Central region by 2030, with a vision to 2045.
Nghe An is a province in the North Central region of Vietnam, with the largest natural area and the fourth largest population. Nghe An plays a crucial role not only in socio-economic exchange between the North and South through its convenient transportation system: railways, roads, air routes, seaports, and border crossings...
The development goals outlined in the overall socio-economic development plan of Nghe An province until 2020 have been basically implemented in accordance with the established direction.
However, the results achieved in the past period have not yet met the requirements set forth, and have not fully exploited the potential and advantages of Nghe An. During the implementation of the plan, there are still obstacles, especially overlapping, inconsistent, and unsynchronized plans. The province's seaport and logistics services still have many shortcomings and limitations...; Currently, there is no large operational logistics center in the province, and the logistics-related services provided are mostly small-scale and fragmented... not commensurate with Nghe An's potential and advantages.
Resolution No. 39/NQ-TW dated July 18, 2023, of the Politburo set the goal for 2030: Nghe An will be a relatively developed province in the country, with rapid and sustainable economic development, deeply rooted in Vietnamese and Nghe An cultural identity; it will be the center of the North Central region for diverse and modern trade and logistics, becoming a key service sector...
The project outline consists of six parts: Introduction; Natural, economic, and social conditions affecting the development of logistics services in Nghe An province and the North Central region; Current status of logistics service development in Nghe An province and the North Central region; Perspectives, objectives, tasks, and solutions for the development of logistics services in the province until 2030, with a vision to 2045; Organization and management of project implementation, projected investment capital, and conclusions and recommendations.
Accordingly, the Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Industry and Trade to take the lead in coordinating with relevant departments, agencies, localities, and units to develop the project. The project development period is 6 months from the date of approval of the project outline, tasks, and effective contracts between the parties.
