The black Fiat 500L was one of two cars used by Pope Francis during his visit to Philadelphia (Pennsylvania, USA) in September 2015. The car was sold for $82,000 at an auction at a car show in Philadelphia, according to AP on January 30.
The auction lasted just 11 minutes and had 19 bidders. The winning bidder was Michael and Kate Chapman, owners of Chapman Automotive Group, which owns seven car dealerships in Philadelphia. The Chapmans said they would display the car at their Horsham dealership.
The second Fiat the Pope used in Philadelphia will be on display at the car show through February 7. A spokesman for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia said the proceeds from the auction will go to charities and diocesan schools.
