The black Fiat 500L was one of two cars used by Pope Francis during his visit to Philadelphia in September 2015. The car sold for $82,000 at an auction at a Philadelphia auto show, according to AP on January 30.
The auction lasted only 11 minutes and attracted 19 bidders. The winners were Michael and Kate Chapman, owners of Chapman Motors, which owns seven dealerships in Philadelphia. The Chapmans said they will display the car at their Horsham dealership.
The second Fiat used by the Pope in Philadelphia will be on display at a car show until February 7th. A spokesperson for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia said that the proceeds from the auction will go to charity and schools within the diocese.
