On the second day of the Lunar New Year, bus companies resumed passenger transport services after the holiday. However, many companies increased ticket prices by 35-40%, causing public outrage.
For example, in districts like Do Luong, Tan Ky, and Yen Thanh, the normal price for a sleeper bus ticket to Hanoi is 150,000 VND, but on the second day of Tet (Lunar New Year), it increases to 250,000 VND per ticket.
In Yen Thanh district, buses to Ho Chi Minh City only started departing on the 6th day of Tet (Lunar New Year). However, ticket prices have increased many times over. Normally priced at 700,000 VND per person, the price has now been raised to 1.7 million VND per person. The high prices, coupled with ticket shortages, are causing further hardship for passengers.

Recently, gasoline prices have dropped sharply, but unofficial ticket prices have increased significantly, leaving consumers at a disadvantage. Currently, state management of this issue is not strict enough, allowing businesses to exploit market mechanisms for profit.
