Passenger bus overturns, 8 injured.

The accident occurred at approximately 6:00 AM on February 26th, at kilometer 176 of the Noi Bai – Lao Cai expressway (in Van Yen district, Yen Bai province). The accident resulted in serious injuries to many passengers on the bus.

At the time of the incident, a sleeper bus with license plate from Nam Dinh province was traveling on the Noi Bai - Lao Cai expressway. Upon reaching kilometer 176 (in Van Yen district, Yen Bai province), the bus suddenly swerved and crashed into the roadside embankment, causing it to overturn and block the expressway.

According to some witnesses, after overturning, the passenger bus slid about 10 meters along the road, with many passengers screaming and shouting for help. Luggage and belongings of many people were scattered on the road. Many people at the scene broke open the doors to rescue the injured and quickly took them to the hospital.

A car blocking the road caused significant traffic disruption on the Lao Cai - Hanoi route. A representative from the Noi Bai - Lao Cai Expressway Operations Center stated that the initial cause was determined to be the driver losing control. Eight passengers were injured in the accident. The unit mobilized a large crane and numerous rescue personnel to the scene to coordinate with the police in resolving the issue.

According to the head of Department 10 (Traffic Police Department) in charge of the Noi Bai - Lao Cai expressway, the vehicle overturned due to the driver losing control and crashing into the road barrier. Recently, many passenger buses and private cars have overturned on the Noi Bai - Lao Cai expressway. The cause is the presence of median strips and drainage ditches in many sections of the road. Accidents frequently occur on the section between km 73 and km 78, where the road surface remains unimproved despite being repaved.
