According to point d, clause 3, Article 7 of Decree 168/2024/ND-CP, drivers of motorcycles, mopeds, and similar vehicles will be fined from VND 600,000 to VND 800,000 (previously from VND 400,000 to VND 600,000) for the following violations:
Driving a vehicle without keeping to the right side in the direction of travel;
Driving in the wrong lane or section of the road (either the same-direction lane or the opposite-direction lane);
Driving a vehicle across a fixed median strip separating two lanes of traffic.
Furthermore, according to point d, clause 13, Article 7 of Decree 168/2024/ND-CP, if a motorcyclist drives in the wrong lane and causes a traffic accident, they will be fined from 10 to 14 million VND (previously 4 to 5 million VND) and have 10 points deducted from their driver's license.
Thus, the penalties for driving in the wrong lane on motorcycles have been increased from 2025, with a significant increase in cases where driving in the wrong lane causes a traffic accident.
