Most major motorcycle manufacturers in Vietnam are applying preferential policies and cash promotions for certain models. Harley-Davidson motorcycles are even discounted by nearly half a billion VND.

While the auto market is witnessing price cuts from car manufacturers, the motorbike market is no different. Many motorbike manufacturers are launching incentive programs and discounts for customers buying cars nearing the ghost month. According to many people, the ghost month (the 7th lunar month) is not a good time to buy or sell, so the business situation of many types of goods during this period often slows down, not just motorbikes and cars.

This is also the busiest time of the year for incentive programs of motorcycle manufacturers. Many domestic or imported motorcycle manufacturers have incentive programs for motorcycle buyers.

Winner and some Honda motorbike models are applying a gift policy worth 500,000 VND.

Honda, the car company with a large market share, is applying a gift program worth 600,000 VND for customers who buy Winner, Blade, Wave Alpha and Wave RSX models. It can be seen that the gift policy of the Japanese motorcycle joint venture applies to most manual transmission models, targeting ordinary users. According to the owner of a business dealership, the time when students enter school is the time when they need to reduce vehicle prices, especially low-cost manual transmission models.

Yamaha also applies a cash gift program for customers. Specifically, Sirius buyers will receive 500,000 VND in cash. Sirius is the best-selling model on the market, targeting ordinary customers similar to Honda's Wave model. The time before the ghost month is also the time when many universities complete the enrollment process, so launching a pre-emptive move at this time is quite understandable.

Yamaha's Sirius line of cars also has a price reduction of 500,000 VND.

In addition, the Japanese motorcycle joint venture is applying a stimulus campaign for the Grande model. Although not directly giving cash like Sirius, Grande's promotional program is also quite attractive to female customers.

Suzuki's two models, Impulse and Axelo, are applying a registration fee support program of 500,000 VND, along with a lucky draw for customers who buy the car. Axelo is a sports motorbike line, with a manual clutch version to compete with Exciter, but sales are not impressive. Meanwhile, the Impulse scooter competes with Honda's Air Blade but is also far behind in sales.

SYM is also offering gifts and cash to customers who buy Elite, Angela and Shark mini models. The Taiwanese motorcycle brand's gift programs are valid until September 30, the end of the ghost month. Gifts for customers who buy SYM vehicles are backpacks or cash worth VND500,000, depending on the model.

Harley-Davidson CVO Ultra Limited 2016 discounted up to 482 million VND.

Not only domestic car manufacturers, imported car manufacturers also have promotional programs with large values before the ghost month. Harley-Davidson is a typical example, the American car manufacturer applies a discount policy for many car models sold in Vietnam, some models are discounted up to nearly 500 million VND. Specifically, 20 Harley-Davidson models officially distributed in Vietnam are applied with a discount policy.

The 2017 Street 750 and Street Rod models have been reduced by VND5 million, with prices of VND354 and VND418 million, respectively. Meanwhile, some billion-dollar models such as the 2017 CVO Street Glide and 2017 CVO Pro Street Breakout have been reduced by hundreds of millions of VND, with new prices of VND1,760 billion and VND1,399 billion, respectively. The biggest price reduction among Harley-Davidson products is the 2016 CVO Ultra Limited, reduced by VND482.2 million to VND1,6 billion.

In the first 6 months of the year, the Vietnamese motorbike market achieved sales of more than 1.5 million vehicles, a 6% increase over the same period last year according to a report by VAMM. It can be seen that Vietnam is still a potential market for motorbike manufacturers, despite predictions of saturation a few years ago.
