The KX250F retains its lightweight, sleek design but boasts an extremely rigid chassis and now features an improved suspension system for better damping and shock absorption. The dual direct fuel injection system is considered a key factor in the KX250F's performance. Since the 2012 version, the KX250F has been the world's first off-road motorcycle to feature this type of system. Unlike standard fuel injection systems that only have a single fuel injection stream from the throttle valve, the KX250F's system uses a secondary injection stream directly in the airbox. This lower injection stream increases smoothness and responsiveness, resulting in finer fuel particles in the injection chamber.

As engine speed and throttle increase, the main activity shifts from the lower fuel injection stream to the upper fuel injection stream, depending on whether the vehicle is running in low gear (1,2) or high gear (3,4,5). The upper fuel injection stream has a greater distance to the combustion chamber, allowing for more time for the fuel and air particles to mix and for cooling before reaching the combustion chamber. Both of these factors contribute to increased fuel intake efficiency and stronger power output.
