Dong Thanh Commune, Yen Thanh District has 3 construction stone mining companies, including: Thanh Nam Company Limited; Dong Thanh Company Limited and 369 Construction Joint Stock Company Limited. Every day, more and more cars transporting construction materials pass by, causing serious damage to the local traffic system, along with environmental pollution, affecting the daily life of the people.

Mr. Thai Van Thanh - Chairman of Dong Thanh Commune People's Committee said: The locality has about 5 km of main roads, every day there are many trucks transporting construction stones to all places for consumption, causing serious damage to the roads, making them muddy on rainy days and dusty on sunny days, greatly affecting the lives of people in the area.

The commune has repeatedly petitioned higher authorities for solutions, but the problem remains. Mr. Thanh suggested that relevant departments regularly rectify the situation of oversized and overloaded trucks carrying construction materials from quarries to reduce road damage.

The main road of Dong Thanh commune has been upgraded many times, but after being completed, it is damaged again because every day there are many cars transporting construction materials from the quarries going in and out.

Mr. Phan Dang Hao - Director of Dong Thanh Company Limited, said: Every year the company pays more than 1 billion VND in taxes to the state, in addition to paying 70 - 80 million VND in welfare funds to the locality and supporting 1,500 - 2,000 m³soil and rock for local traffic repair, new rural road construction, investment in watering to prevent dust on the road surface. The company has proposed to the authorities and sectors to annually allocate a part of the environmental restoration fund for the locality to benefit.

According to Mr. Thai Van Thanh - Chairman of Dong Thanh Commune People's Committee, if the superiors allocate a part of the environmental restoration fund for the locality, the locality will use that source of money to invest in household water filters for people living in polluted areas, or invest in building rainwater tanks and dust protection devices for people.

Overloaded trucks cause cracks and damage to the road surface.

Tru Son Commune, Do Luong District is also a locality that has suffered a lot because 25 km of the commune's main road has been destroyed by trucks over the years. Most of the 25 km of road is dirt road, which has not been upgraded, so it is muddy when it rains, and dusty when it is sunny, not only affecting pedestrians, but also flying into people's houses, sticking densely to household items.

Mr. Nguyen Huu Lich - Deputy Secretary of Tru Son Commune Party Committee said: In the commune, there are currently 3 construction stone mining companies: Construction Materials Mining Company 99; Toan Thanh Construction Materials Mining Company and Nghe An Stone Construction Materials Mining Company.

The main road of Tru Son commune is full of potholes caused by car wheels, making it very difficult for people to travel.

The biggest problem is the main road system is damaged and polluted, due to the daily number of cars going in and out to transport construction materials for consumption. Although the locality cooperates with quarry companies to dump soil and rocks on the road surface every year, the road system is still in a state of serious damage. In the rainy season, water stagnates in the muddy buffalo and elephant holes, making it very difficult for people to travel.

The most effective solution, in the process of building new rural areas, with the motto "State and people work together", is for the state to soon invest in cement for localities to pour concrete on main roads.

Mr. Nguyen Duc Thien - Head of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Yen Thanh district, said: For a long time, construction stone mining units in the district have paid 100% of the annual environmental restoration fund to the province. Given the current situation of damaged local roads and environmental pollution due to mining, the district People's Committee has proposed that the Provincial People's Committee annually allocate a part of the environmental restoration fund for the locality, but the Provincial People's Committee has not yet made a specific decision.

To overcome the traffic damage, when the Provincial People's Committee grants the mine, the state needs to invest in a road leading to the mine with a higher tonnage (currently a level 5 mountain road) which is not suitable for the reality, causing the local traffic system to deteriorate very quickly, due to the large number of vehicles passing through...
