The T-80BVM is equipped with a 125mm gun, combined with the Reflex missile launcher system, replacing the Cobra system on the previous version. The Reflex weapon system has an extended missile launch range, adjusted to be able to launch modern missiles today and in the future.

Regarding the main front armor, the T-80BVM, in addition to the vehicle's original cast armor with a thickness equivalent to 450-530mm of homogeneous steel, when installing Relikt 5th generation explosive reactive armor (ERA), the vehicle's armor is equivalent to 900-1,100mm of homogeneous steel (RHA).

The Russian Ministry of Defense affirmed that with the new equipment package, the T-80BVM has become much stronger and more reliable than before.
