The T-80BVM is equipped with a 125mm cannon, combined with the Reflex missile launch system, replacing the Cobra system on the previous version. The Reflex system has an extended missile launch range and is adapted to launch modern missiles, both current and future.
Regarding the main frontal armor, the T-80BVM, in addition to the original cast armor of the vehicle which has a thickness equivalent to 450-530mm of homogeneous steel, when fitted with Relikt 5th generation explosive reactive armor (ERA), the armor thickness is equivalent to 900-1,100mm of homogeneous steel (RHA).
The Russian Ministry of Defense claims that, with the new equipment package, the T-80BVM has become much more powerful and reliable than before.
