Before the opening of the session, Comrade Tran Ngoc Son - Chief Justice of Nghe An Provincial People's Court said that the reduction of sentences for prisoners on the occasion of the traditional Tet holiday of the nation is a lenient and humane policy of the Party and State for prisoners. This is also a motivation to encourage and motivate prisoners who are still serving their sentences to strive to study, work, and reform so that they can soon reintegrate into the community and become useful citizens for society.

Thoroughly understanding the spirit and significance of considering reducing the term of serving a prison sentence, the Sentence Reduction Council has reviewed the proposed reduction applications seriously, positively, objectively, impartially, and in accordance with the law, and has considered and accepted the reduction of the term of serving a prison sentence for 1,448 prisoners.

Prisoners are considered for a reduction in their prison term because they have shown good reform during the sentence execution process, have served 1/3 or more of their sentence, and have fulfilled ½ or more of their civil obligations as prescribed.
