Consideration is being given to reducing the prison sentences of nearly 1,500 inmates.
(Baonghean.vn) - The Sentence Reduction Council of the People's Court of Nghe An province held a meeting to consider reducing prison sentences for 1,472 inmates serving sentences at Prisons No. 3 and No. 6 of the C10 Department, Ministry of Public Security, during the Lunar New Year holiday of 2022.

Representatives from the People's Procuratorate of Nghe An province and units whose inmates were considered for clemency were in attendance.
Before the opening of the session, Comrade Tran Ngoc Son - Chief Justice of the People's Court of Nghe An province - stated that the reduction of sentences for prisoners during the traditional Lunar New Year is a lenient and humane policy of the Party and State for prisoners. This also serves as an encouragement and motivation for prisoners still serving their sentences to strive to study, work, and reform themselves so that they can soon reintegrate into the community and become useful citizens for society.
In keeping with the spirit and significance of sentence reduction, the Sentence Reduction Council conducted a serious, proactive, objective, and impartial review of sentence reduction applications in accordance with the law, and approved sentence reductions for 1448 prisoners.
Prisoners are considered eligible for sentence reduction due to good behavior during their imprisonment, having served at least one-third of their sentence, and having fulfilled at least half of their civil obligations as stipulated.
