Mobile trial of the case of storing and trading fireworks
(Baonghean.vn) - On December 29, Thai Hoa Town People's Court conducted a mobile and public trial of the case of storing and trading in prohibited goods, namely firecrackers.
The defendants in the case include: Nguyen Van Tien (born in 1980 in Vinh Dong hamlet, Lao Bao town, Huong Hoa district, Quang Tri); Ho Manh Hung (born in 1983 in Long Son ward, Thai Hoa town, Nghe An province) and Phan Thi Thu Hang (born in 1982 in Trieu Son, Thanh Hoa).
According to the indictment, on the morning of October 8, 2022, Thai Hoa town police caught Nguyen Van Tien red-handed while he was transporting fireworks from Quang Tri to Thai Hoa town for sale.
The seized exhibits were 80 boxes of 36-round firecrackers with a total weight of 114kg, and 1 truck with license plate 74C - 09068. Expanding the investigation, on November 13, 2022, Thai Hoa Town Police continued to arrest 2 subjects Ho Manh Hung and Phan Thi Thu Hang for illegal trading and storage, seizing 140kg of firecrackers.

Thus, the total weight of the seized fireworks was 248.4 kg. Through the investigation, the subjects confessed that they bought the above fireworks at the border gate of Quang Tri province, then brought them to Thai Hoa town to sell for profit during the 2023 Lunar New Year.
Based on the evidence stated in the indictment, pursuant to Clause 3, Articles 190 and 191 of the Penal Code, the court sentenced defendant Nguyen Van Tien to 8 years and 9 months in prison; defendant Phan Thi Thu Hang to 8 years and 6 months in prison, and defendant Ho Manh Hung to 5 years in prison.
