Mobile court hearing for case of possession and trading of firecrackers.

The defendants in the case include: Nguyen Van Tien (born in 1980 in Vinh Dong hamlet, Lao Bao town, Huong Hoa district, Quang Tri province); Ho Manh Hung (born in 1983 in Long Son ward, Thai Hoa town, Nghe An province); and Phan Thi Thu Hang (born in 1982 in Trieu Son, Thanh Hoa province).

According to the indictment, on the morning of October 8, 2022, the police in Thai Hoa town caught Nguyen Van Tien red-handed while he was transporting fireworks from Quang Tri to Thai Hoa town for sale.

The seized items included 80 boxes of firecrackers (36 firecrackers per box) with a total weight of 114kg, and one truck with license plate 74C - 09068. Expanding the investigation, on November 13, 2022, the Thai Hoa Town Police arrested two more individuals, Ho Manh Hung and Phan Thi Thu Hang, for the illegal trading and possession of firecrackers, seizing 140kg of firecrackers.

Thus, the total amount of fireworks seized was 248.4 kg. Through questioning, the suspects confessed that they bought the fireworks at a border gate in Quang Tri province and then brought them to Thai Hoa town to sell for profit during the 2023 Lunar New Year.

Based on the evidence presented in the indictment, and pursuant to Clauses 3, Articles 190 and 191 of the Penal Code, the court sentenced defendant Nguyen Van Tien to 8 years and 9 months imprisonment; defendant Phan Thi Thu Hang to 8 years and 6 months imprisonment; and defendant Ho Manh Hung to 5 years imprisonment.
