According to leaked images from user X @sunny1583, the Xiaomi Mix Fold 5 (possibly launched as part of the Xiaomi 18 series) has abandoned the traditional narrow and elongated design of previous generations. Instead, it adopts a wider aspect ratio while maintaining an overall more compact size. This approach is similar to the Huawei Pura X Max, which has already launched in the Chinese market, optimizing the experience of using the external screen as a regular phone.

This design is believed to be in preparation for a direct confrontation with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 and the iPhone Ultra, expected to launch in September. The shift to a wider form factor makes it easier for users to type and view content without feeling like the screen is too narrow.
