In the early days of the new year, crowds of people flock to Cờn Temple (Hoàng Mai Town) - the temple considered the most sacred in Nghệ An province - to pray for good fortune and peace at the beginning of the year.

Cờn Temple, also known as Mẫu Cờn Temple in Nghe An, is located on Diệc Hill, near the Lạch Cờn estuary in Phương Cần village, Quỳnh Phương ward, Hoàng Mai town. It is renowned as the most sacred temple in Nghe An, ranking "first Cờn, second Quả, third Bạch Mã, fourth Chiêu Trưng". Since ancient times, the people of Nghe An province have traditionally said, "First is Cờn Temple, second is Quả Temple, third is Bạch Mã Temple, fourth is Chiêu Trưng Temple." This confirms that Cờn Temple is the most famous and sacred temple in Nghe An, a place of worship for the Four Holy Mothers. Cờn Temple not only attracts people from neighboring districts but also witnesses many tourists from provinces and cities such as Thanh Hoa, Ninh Binh, Nam Dinh, Hanoi, Binh Duong... and even foreign visitors who come to worship. Like some other localities, the coast of Nghe An is always associated with historical and cultural relics that preserve traditional culture and serve as spiritual destinations for the Vietnamese people.
