(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of January 12th, the Association of Elderly People held a conference to summarize its work in 2016 and plan for 2017.
In 2016, the Nghe An Association of Elderly People admitted nearly 16,000 new members, bringing the total number of members in the province to over 360,000 (reaching 94.42%); the number of villages with association branches reached 99.88%.
Over the past year, the various levels of the association have organized numerous activities to promote the care of the elderly. Throughout the province, temporary housing was eliminated for 450 elderly households with a total cost of nearly 5.6 billion VND; the "Bright Eyes for the Elderly" program and the "Promoting the Rights of Disadvantaged Elderly in Vietnam" project were successfully implemented...

Efforts to promote the role of the elderly have also been widely implemented through various movements such as the "Elderly - Shining Examples" emulation movement, the new rural development movement, participation in labor and production, contributing to poverty alleviation and improving living standards.
In 2017, the Provincial Association of Elderly People set out 11 main tasks. These focused primarily on developing membership, promoting emulation movements, expanding the "Intergenerational Self-Help Club" model, leveraging resources, and promoting the socialization of association activities.
