Eliminate temporary housing for 450 elderly households

(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of January 12, the Association of the Elderly held a conference to summarize the work of 2016 and deploy tasks for 2017.

In 2016, Nghe An Elderly Association admitted nearly 16,000 members, bringing the total number of members in the province to more than 360,000 people (reaching 94.42%); the number of villages with associations reached 99.88%.

Over the past year, the association at all levels has organized many activities to promote care for the elderly. The whole province has eliminated temporary houses for 450 elderly households with a total amount of nearly 5.6 billion VND; organized well the program "Bright eyes for the elderly", the project "Promoting the rights of disadvantaged elderly people in Vietnam"...

The work of promoting the role of the elderly has also been widely deployed with many movements such as the emulation movement "Old age - bright example", the movement to build new rural areas, participate in production labor, contribute to poverty reduction, and improve life.

In 2017, the Provincial Association of the Elderly set out 11 main tasks. The main focus was on developing members, promoting emulation movements, replicating the model of "Intergenerational Self-Help Club", promoting resources and promoting the socialization of association activities.

On this occasion, the Central Association of the Elderly and the Provincial Association of the Elderly presented certificates of merit to 122 groups and 27 individuals for their outstanding achievements in the emulation movement “Old age – bright example”. The Provincial Association of the Elderly also received a certificate of merit from the Central Association.
