Xa Luong, Tam Thai, and Thach Giam town are the areas with the largest mango growing areas in Tuong Duong district. These days, people in these areas are harvesting mangoes and bringing them to the market or lining up along National Highway 7 to sell. This year, the mango harvest is abundant and easy to sell, so everyone is very happy.

Ms. Ngan Thi Ky from Cay Me village, Tam Thai commune (Tuong Duong district) shared: “This year the weather has been favorable, so the mango harvest is abundant, with yields 3-4 times higher than last year. My family has 9 mango trees; last year we only harvested about 1-2 quintals, but this year we expect to harvest about 4-5 quintals. The mangoes are plentiful this year and easy to sell, we are very happy.”

Last year, mango prices were slightly higher than this year, but a poor harvest resulted in reduced income for households. This year, however, the mango harvest is abundant and prices are good, so income is 2-3 times higher than last year. Ms. Lo Thi Huong from Tam Thai commune said: “Currently, mango prices range from 25-30 thousand VND/kg, and the price is higher for selected mangoes. Compared to previous years, this year's mango harvest is both abundant and the prices are good, so income is significantly higher.”

Tuong Duong mangoes are characterized by their small, slightly oval shape, rough skin (not smooth and shiny like other mango varieties), and a subtly sweet taste and distinctive aroma.

Furthermore, Tuong Duong mangoes can be harvested and sold while still green, as they are very crunchy, not sour, and can be transported over long distances without spoiling. Thanks to this, Tuong Duong mangoes are always popular with people near and far.

“Every year, at the beginning of the mango season, I have to place orders in advance with the orchard owners because I'm afraid of supply shortages. Customers absolutely love Tuong Duong mangoes because of their crispness and distinctive sweetness. After harvesting, we usually bring them to sell along both sides of National Highway 7. We sell everything we harvest. The selling price ranges from 25,000 to 30,000 VND/kg,” said Ms. Vi Thi My, a mango trader in Tam Thai commune.

It is known that the entire Tuong Duong district currently has about 24.2 hectares, equivalent to 4,852 mango trees. This is a native variety that has been around for a long time, with the advantages of being drought-resistant, growing well on sloping land, easy to plant and care for, and currently enjoying a good market.

To increase people's income, in recent years Tuong Duong district has replanned the mango growing area, continued to restore and improve low-yielding mango orchards, and expanded the area for commercial cultivation.
