Poor village invests over 700 million VND in road construction.
(Baonghean.vn) - These days, hamlets in Vo Liet commune, Thanh Chuong district, are focusing on mobilizing resources to build rural roads and develop new rural areas. Among them, Tan Ha hamlet stands out with a mobilized capital of over 700 million VND.
As a resident of Tan Ha hamlet, Vo Liet commune, despite her advanced age and frail health, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Ngan, upon seeing the hamlet's plan to expand and upgrade rural roads, mobilized her children and grandchildren to demolish, remove, and relocate structures to make way for the road. Mrs. Ngan stated: "Building roads makes travel more convenient, so I comply and implement it seriously. I personally demolished the fences of the structures and contributed my labor to build the road."
Tan Ha hamlet in Vo Liet commune has over 200 households with 918 inhabitants and 460 laborers (aged 18-60). Located in the center of the commune, the people are mainly engaged in agricultural production, and the poverty rate remains high compared to the general average. This area is home to the national historical site of Bach Ma Temple, attracting many tourists annually. Through numerous Party branch meetings, the people have determined that the first priority in building a new rural area is road infrastructure. To raise funds, the hamlet passed a resolution for each laborer to contribute 200,000 VND annually, paying for three years at once. Thanks to this, the hamlet has mobilized nearly 500 million VND.

Besides Ms. Ngan, 22 other households have voluntarily demolished their fences and structures to widen and straighten the road. Following the local initiative, a business located in Vinh City, owned by Mr. Nguyen Van Thang, a resident of the neighborhood, also volunteered to help complete 300 meters of road with a total cost of over 200 million VND.
Thanks to these resources, after 4 months of implementation, Tan Ha hamlet now has 1000 meters of standard concrete road, 4.5-5 meters wide and 20 cm thick, and is preparing to build another 1000 meters to be ready for use before Tet, basically completing the main road network in the area.

Village head Nguyen Van Dung happily stated: "The expansion and upgrading of rural roads has been planned by the village for many years, but only now have we been able to implement it. We have now basically completed the most important section of the road. This is thanks to promoting democracy, where everyone was involved in giving opinions, so this road construction project went very smoothly."
Vo Liet is a locality with a revolutionary tradition, but due to various reasons, after 5 years of implementing the New Rural Development program, it has only achieved 13 out of 19 criteria. To strive towards achieving the New Rural Development goal, the commune is having to mobilize resources and has outlined a construction roadmap, prioritizing the exploitation and development of resources within the people to build transportation infrastructure.
According to Mr. Tran Van Ky, Chairman of the People's Committee of Vo Liet commune: the results from Tan Ha village have helped the locality replicate the model. To date, the hamlets have contributed over 2 billion VND to purchase cement. The locality has also promptly supported the hamlets with over 500 million VND, sending officials to directly inspect and encourage the people, so many hamlets have started implementing the project, such as Trung Duc and Kim Thanh… The entire commune is determined to complete 20 km of standard roads to basically complete the rural transportation system.
Having recognized that building new rural areas is a necessary task and successfully mobilized the people to participate, Tan Ha hamlet in particular and Vo Liet commune in Thanh Chuong district in general are making rapid breakthroughs. It is hoped that today's movement will serve as a stepping stone for the locality to reach its goals as soon as possible.
