The Paul Pogba rejoining MU deal is done.
Manchester United have officially put aside their intention to re-sign Paul Pogba after the deal fell through.
Instead, the team under coach Ruben Amorim is shifting its focus to another star also playing in Serie A.
Pogba is currently a free agent after his contract with Juventus ended. Although there were rumors of a possible return to Old Trafford, the more likely destination for the 32-year-old midfielder now lies across the Atlantic.
According to The Athletic, DC United – a club currently playing in Major League Soccer (MLS) – is showing serious interest in Pogba. The team currently holds "discovery rights" over Pogba in MLS, meaning they have priority in negotiations if he decides to move to the United States.
Sources from DC United also confirmed that preliminary discussions between the two sides have been underway. Pogba's frequent appearances in the stands at MLS games since September 2023 further strengthen the possibility that he will seek a new challenge in the United States.
Currently, DC United has not made any official comment on this deal. According to MLS regulations, the Discovery List mechanism allows clubs to pre-register their right to negotiate with free agents, in order to avoid competition from more financially powerful teams in the same league.
Although he cannot return to Manchester United, Pogba may begin a new chapter in his career in the United States in the near future.
