Heartbreaking situation of a baby with congenital bile duct atresia

(Baonghean.vn) - Although only 10 months old, Phan Van Khoi, the son of Nguyen Thi Sen and Phan Van Kien in Tra Lan hamlet, Phuc Son commune (Anh Son), has had to bear many illnesses and endure pain every day.

Following the instructions, we went to Nguyen Thi Sen’s house, a small, dilapidated house at the end of the village, but the door was closed. Asking around, we learned that for the past two weeks, Sen and her child had been staying at a pagoda about 7 kilometers away, while her husband worked as a hired acacia cutter to earn more money for his child’s treatment.

Coming to the small pagoda in Duc Son commune, Ms. Sen was holding her nearly 10-month-old son. Just seeing him made everyone shed tears. Her son - Phan Van Khoi was as weak as a frog, with purple lips and yellow skin like turmeric. Sometimes when he had difficulty breathing, Ms. Sen had to give him an oxygen tank.

With a big, round, distended belly, visible veins, a protruding navel, and large testicles, breathing and going to the toilet were very difficult. The baby was in a lot of pain and weakness, so his face was contorted and crying.

Wiping away her tears, Ms. Sen said: Since birth, my child has been sickly. My family took him to the district hospital for treatment but it was not successful, so they took him to the provincial hospital, and the provincial hospital referred him to the National Children's Hospital. There, the doctors examined him and concluded that he had congenital gallbladder atresia and now he also has liver failure. If he is not treated promptly and properly, he will probably not survive.

Being a poor household in the commune, the main job of the couple is to work for hire. After nearly 10 months of their child being sick, Ms. Sen's family has become even more exhausted. Therefore, for the past two weeks, the mother and child have had to rely on the temple for help.

In despair, Ms. Sen confided: Since birth, my child has had to endure much pain from illness and surgeries... However, with the heart of a mother, I never stopped hoping that one day my child will be cured.

Khoi's family is currently in a very difficult situation, so they really need the help of kind-hearted people to help the family pay for his treatment.
