The Bara Do Luong spillway dam breach incident has been resolved.
(Baonghean.vn) - After three days of continuous work day and night, the Do Luong spillway dam breach was successfully repaired on the morning of June 10th.
As reported, on June 7th, the Bara Do Luong spillway experienced a breach in compartments 10 and 11 (old dam compartments that had been in use for over 80 years), causing several repercussions affecting daily life and production.
Three days after the incident, the project management board and the construction team actively mobilized manpower and machinery to pour more than 4,000 tons of concrete blocks and hundreds of tons of stone into the broken section of the dam to quickly reconnect the old and new spillway sections. By the morning of June 10th, the construction unit had basically completed the repair of the broken dam.

During the repair process, under the direction of Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Hoang Nghia Hieu, the construction company, Hoa Hiep Co., Ltd., mobilized dozens of vehicles and machinery to transport and lift stones and concrete down to the dam and raise the sand discharge culvert to regulate water flow, thereby facilitating the repair process.

Mr. Hoang Ngoc Tuan, Vice Chairman of the People's Council of Do Luong town, said: "Upon hearing the news that the Do Luong Bara dam had broken, the people were extremely surprised and worried about the loss of clean water, because our entire town has over 10,200 inhabitants, and all households use tap water (including poor households). After the dam was repaired, and the Do Luong Water Supply Station used mobile pumps to draw water, the people's water supply has now stabilized, and they feel more at ease."

The construction unit stated that immediately after repairing the broken section of the dam, they will block the flow and begin construction on the damaged section, aiming to complete the project one year ahead of schedule.
This contract was awarded through an international bidding process, using funds from JICA, with JICA experts closely supervising all stages.
