Despite high expectations, Luong Xuan Truong is unlikely to be able to participate in the 2016 AFF Cup with the Vietnamese national team.

In the friendly match against the North Korean national team on the evening of October 6th, Luong Xuan Truong, along with his teammate Tuan Anh, made a significant impact in the center of the Vietnamese national team's midfield. Xuan Truong is at risk of missing the 2016 AFF Cup.

With Xuan Truong's contributions during training camps with the Vietnamese national team this year, the midfielder from Tuyen Quang is considered a key player for coach Huu Thang at the 2016 AFF Cup at the end of the year.
