The National Political Publishing House, in collaboration with the Hanoi Peace Institute (HANPRI) and Media 21 Communications Joint Stock Company, has just published the photo book "Dien Bien Phu - Moments from History".

The book "Dien Bien Phu - Moments from History" is printed on high-quality paper and measures 24 x 25 cm. Through nearly 200 meticulously collected and selected photographs, the book reveals moments from within, from multiple perspectives, of those who directly participated in or witnessed one of the most famous and influential battles of the 20th century.

The book's content is divided into four parts in a chronological order.The roads to Dien Bien PhuIt provides viewers with visual documentation about the context, underlying causes, and direct factors that led to the formation of the Dien Bien Phu "cauldron." Dien Bien Phu:An unplanned "accumulated boil"This helps provide a general overview of the formation of a "hedgehog in the Northwest mountains" from the end of 1953 to the beginning of March 1954.FirestormIt provides a firsthand look at the 56 brutal days and nights, and the process by which the "hedgehog" transformed from a Viet Minh meat grinder into a "hell on earth" for the expeditionary army.EarthquakeIt shows the consequences and events that took place after May 7, 1954.

Each page of the book contains historically significant and highly symbolic images of the event. Alongside these are documentary details that help readers understand the general context and the specific time when this "historic moment" actually occurred.

This book was created after many years of meticulous research, gathering materials, and compiling information, with the efforts of historians, international relations experts, and media professionals such as Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Chi Trung; Dr. Nguyen Dinh Thuan; journalist Dang Bao Trung; journalist Bui Xuan An; young designer Nguyen Hoang Khoi… Along with the advice and assistance of many experts such as the late Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh; Professor, People's Teacher Vu Duong Ninh; Lieutenant General Vo Van Tuan; Lieutenant General Vu Chien Thang; Ambassador Pham Quang Vinh; Dr. Le Kien Thanh; Colonel Dao Chi Cong; writer Binh Ca… and many international scholars.

Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Chi Trung, the book's editor, stated: "Moments from history possess undeniable power because of their authenticity and objectivity, which are inherent in photography. This book does not aim to explain history. It demonstrates that history has unfolded and that history is truly great. The editorial team's aspiration is that this publication will contribute to giving future generations and international friends the opportunity to see and intuitively feel an event of immense significance in the history of Vietnam's national defense."

The special publication "Dien Bien Phu - Moments from History" contains 286 pages of content and is one of the very few publications presented simultaneously in three languages: Vietnamese, English, and French.
