Insulting a beauty pageant contestant will result in a 10 million VND fine.
This regulation is stipulated in Decree No. 28/2017/ND-CP amending and supplementing a number of articles of Decree 131/2013/ND-CP dated October 16, 2013 of the Government, regulating administrative sanctions for violations of copyright and related rights, and Decree 158/2013/ND-CP dated November 12, 2013 of the Government, regulating administrative sanctions in the fields of culture, sports, tourism and advertising.

The decree stipulates a fine of 5 to 10 million VND for any of the following acts: insulting the reputation of an organization, or the honor and dignity of contestants in beauty or modeling competitions. This fine also applies to the act of publicly using titles obtained from beauty or modeling competitions that were entered illegally.
Fines ranging from 15 to 20 million VND will be imposed for disseminating or circulating images of performing artists or fashion models that are offensive, inappropriate to social values and moral standards, Vietnamese customs and traditions; engaging in acts inconsistent with Vietnamese customs and traditions; or negatively impacting foreign relations during the organization of artistic performances or fashion shows. This Decree takes effect from May 5, 2017.
