(Baonghean.vn) - According to Nghe An's agricultural development plan, from now until 2030, Nghe An will focus on constructing many important irrigation infrastructure projects to ensure sustainable agricultural development.

The province continues to mobilize capital to focus on completing ongoing construction projects such as Ban Mong Lake, Khe Lai - Vuc Mau Lake, and Vach Nam - Song Bung. Key projects are being implemented: the saltwater intrusion prevention and freshwater retention sluice gates on the Lam and Mo rivers; upgrading the North and South irrigation systems, the Nam Viet irrigation system, the Lam Tra canal, and key reservoirs; upgrading and renovating the irrigation and drainage canal system in the South (Thap canal, Vinh river, Gai canal, Hoang Can canal); the Nha Le canal renovation project; the Thac Muoi reservoir; and constructing a cluster of water regulating reservoirs (6 reservoirs) upstream of Ban Mong Lake.
Among these are 28 key projects, with an investment capital of approximately 16,600 billion VND, which will be invested from now until 2020.
Boost investment in irrigation systems to drain floodwaters in coastal areas and irrigate industrial crops in the midland and low mountainous regions, and continue to promote the canal reinforcement program. Upgrade river dike systems: Ca River dike, Ta Lam dike, and inland dikes; coastal and estuary dike systems: Nghi Yen, Nghi Tien, Quynh Lap, Song Bung, Song Cam; flood control sluices and dikes in Thanh Chuong and Do Luong districts; the project to eliminate flood-prone areas in the South; Hoi Trieu and Hoi Nay drainage sluices... Invest in hardening dike surfaces and planting wave-breaking trees to protect dikes and ensure safety in flood control, creating conditions for local socio-economic development and ensuring national defense and security in coastal areas.

Complete and build new irrigation systems to serve aquaculture, focusing investment on completing the construction of concentrated aquaculture breeding areas to meet development requirements.
Nghe An will strengthen investment in inland irrigation infrastructure to serve advanced farming practices associated with the construction of new rural areas; and apply water-saving irrigation solutions.
