(Baonghean.vn) - Hiding under the guise of international tourists, Gia Xuc Van Xay and Lo Dao (also known as Lau Dao) brought a large quantity of drugs into Nghe An for consumption.

After a day of successfully solving a case in Laos, returning to Vietnam, Colonel Nguyen Chi Ty - Head of the Drug and Crime Prevention Department, Nghe An Border Guard said: "Thanks to good reconnaissance work, grasping all movements of the subject, and close coordination of the forces, the battle took place quickly, ensuring absolute safety of people and vehicles, achieving the expected results."

The case began in November 2017, when detectives discovered a "huge" drug ring taking advantage of the border crossing between Laos and Vietnam. Some Laotians connected with Vietnamese people, then went to the Golden Triangle to buy drugs, transported them to Laos, and then found a way to cross the border to bring the drugs into Vietnam for consumption.

Upon receiving the information, the Nghe An Border Guard asked for opinions from the relevant authorities, and the Xieng Khouang Provincial Police also reported to the Lao Ministry of Public Security to request a case. With the agreement of the relevant authorities of the two countries, the 365LV project was established. The Nghe An Border Guard sent elite scouts who were both professional and fluent in Lao to closely monitor the subjects.

Just a short time after the case was opened, the detectives provided complete information about the origin, route, and key subjects in the multinational drug trafficking and transportation ring.

Accordingly, the ringleader was identified as Gia Xuc Van Xay (27 years old, residing in Xay district, Udomxay province, Laos). Although still young, Gia Xuc Van Xay was very cunning in illegal drug trafficking. Assisting Gia Xuc Van Xay was Lo Dao (31 years old, residing in Na Xay Thoong village, Na Xay Thoong district, Vientiane capital, Laos).

The easily identifiable feature of Gia Xuc Van Xay is his leg disability (walking with one side low and one side high). Therefore, all of Gia Xuc Van Xay's movements are closely monitored by secret agents.

Based on the analysis of the actual situation, the Nghe An Border Guard proactively asked the Xieng Khouang Provincial Police (Laos) to join the fight and dismantle this organized drug trafficking ring. At the end of the lunar year, due to high demand, Vietnamese partners needed a large amount of goods to supply. This time, Gia Xuc Van Xay himself and his junior Lo Dao went directly to the Golden Triangle to buy drugs.

After buying a large quantity of drugs, Xay and his accomplices drove a car towards the Vietnam border. When they reached Udomxay province (Laos), Xay changed vehicles to avoid being detected. Because it was still light in Udomxay, Xay discussed with Lo Dao to wait until it was dark and then cut through the forest to go towards the Vietnam border.

After 8 p.m. on January 12, when the cold fog covered the sky of U Dom Xay, at this time the surrounding families had started to turn off the lights to go to bed, Gia Xuc Van Xay and Lo Dao disguised a large amount of drugs in their backpacks and cut the forest towards the Vietnam border. However, the forest cutting trip of Gia Xuc Van Xay and his accomplices was stopped before dawn.

At 5:00 a.m. on January 13, at Tha Choc village, Pec district, Xieng Khouang province (Laos), the anti-drug and crime prevention force, Nam Cam International Border Guard Station, Nghe An Border Guard in coordination with Xieng Khouang provincial police (Laos) arrested Lo Dao and Gia Xuc Van Xay while transporting 18,000 synthetic drug pills.

According to a scout, although the weather in Laos at night is very cold, sometimes below 4 degrees Celsius, with a determined spirit to attack criminals, the joint force between Nghe An Border Guard and Laos overcame the difficulties of the weather, staying up all night to follow the suspect to successfully solve the case.

The suspect and evidence have been handed over to Xieng Khouang Provincial Police (Laos) for further investigation.
