Yen Thanh and Dien Chau need to strengthen disease surveillance

In Yen Thanh district, from the beginning of 2017 until now, there have been 07 suspected cases of whooping cough, of which Van Thanh commune alone has 03 cases; there have been no other dangerous epidemics in the area.
Information from Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital: Since the beginning of the year, the hospital has received and treated 53 children suspected of having whooping cough. 50% of the children suspected of having whooping cough are under 3 months old. Of these, 47 children are from 13 districts, cities and towns in Nghe An province; 05 children are from Ha Tinh; 01 child is from Quang Ninh; 05 cases were transferred to the Central Government for treatment and 02 children died.On the evening of March 15, the Tropical Diseases Department of Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital admitted NTT, 14 years old, from Dien Hai Commune, Dien Chau District. On the morning of March 16, NTT had a rabies attack and was asked by his family to go home because he could not be cured. |
Working with the Medical Center, Yen Thanh District General Hospital and Van Thanh Commune Health Station, Deputy Director of Nghe An Department of Health Nguyen Xuan Hong stated: In the context of increasing risk of epidemics and complicated developments, Yen Thanh needs to do a good job of disease surveillance to promptly detect the first cases to prevent and avoid spreading; do a good job of vaccination to prevent the disease.
In Dien Chau district, since the beginning of the year, there have been 9 suspected cases of whooping cough; 76 cases of chickenpox; 87 cases of mumps concentrated in kindergartens in Dien Hoang and Dien Doai communes; in addition, there are 4 communes with bird flu outbreaks in the area, but the outbreak has been well contained and contained, with no cases of human transmission.

The leaders of Dien Chau District Medical Center also reported to the working group of Nghe An Department of Health that some schools in the area were still hiding information about the actual number of students absent from school due to flu and illness when the unit conducted monitoring and investigation.
Speaking at the meeting with Dien Chau District Medical Center, Deputy Director of Nghe An Department of Health Nguyen Xuan Hong requested: As a locality with a high risk of epidemics, medical units in Dien Chau district need to actively advise Party committees and authorities on disease prevention; strengthen supervision at medical stations, clinics, and district hospitals; increase testing activities to detect diseases; when there are suspected cases, it is necessary to carry out well the collection, treatment, and quarantine precautions.
