Yen Thanh conducts regional defense drill in 2018.
(Baonghean.vn) - On the evenings of June 19th and 20th, Long Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district, held a combat drill for the commune's defense zone in 2018. This unit was selected by Yen Thanh district as a model for six other communes in the area to learn from and emulate.
Although the preparation time for the 2018 regional defense exercise in Long Thanh commune was limited, thanks to the efforts of the Party Committee, the government, and mass organizations in closely adhering to the exercise's content, the regional defense combat exercise in the commune was highly appreciated by the Yen Thanh district's exercise steering committee.

Specifically, Long Thanh commune directed the implementation of the exercise through several stages: transitioning the combat readiness status from regular to high, and shifting the locality to a state of emergency regarding security. The scenarios included countering public disorder and riots; handling situations involving air and fire attacks against the enemy. More than 200 residents of Yen Moi hamlet were relocated and evacuated in modified vehicles, along with essential supplies and equipment, to a primary school for shelter under cover of darkness, ensuring safety and secrecy.
The hypothetical scenario involved a group of villagers being agitated and surrounded by hostile elements who insulted commune officials at their office; they then broke into and seized the Long Thanh Commune People's Committee building, taking the Deputy Chairman of the People's Committee and several other staff members hostage.

Upon receiving the report at the command center, under the direction of the Party Committee and the government, the exercise steering committee coordinated seamlessly between theory and practice, assigning members of the training framework to intensify propaganda and persuasion efforts targeting the individuals involved.
Simultaneously, the mobile militia platoon was mobilized in coordination with reconnaissance forces and the commune police force, equipped with weapons, ammunition, mines, and smoke bombs; attack teams were assigned to approach the headquarters, recapture the target, rescue the hostages, and ensure the safety of personnel, weapons, equipment, and state property.
