Yen Thanh urgently closes 12,500 hectares of summer-autumn rice

(Baonghean.vn) - In order to avoid natural disasters, floods, and ensure safety in production, Yen Thanh farmers are focusing on preparing the land, speeding up the planting progress, and striving to complete 12,500 hectares of summer-autumn rice before June 10.

To ensure food security and improve production quality and value, this summer-autumn crop, Yen Thanh district planted 12,500 hectares of rice, following the principle of planting as early as possible, ensuring harvest before the rainy season and freeing up land for winter crop production.

Thanks to the promotion of mechanization in the fields, up to now, the whole district has been able to cultivate over 9,000 hectares, of which 3,000 hectares in the deep flood-prone areas were completed before May 30 with pure rice varieties with short growing periods, many rice fields have taken root and turned green. For intensive farming areas, the district has focused on not extending the crop calendar, but must concentrate and complete the cultivation within 2-3 days for one field area to facilitate care and pest control.

The district's agricultural sector has also focused on urging communes in the dam area to regulate water resources reasonably and change crop structures appropriately to respond to climate change.
