In Ca field, Lien Thanh commune (Yen Thanh), the combine harvesters are operating at full capacity. Ms. Phan Thi Minh in hamlet 3, Lien Thanh commune said: Her family cultivates 5 sao of rice fields, mainly Khang Dan variety, currently the rice is only about 80% ripe, but this season the weather is unusually rainy and windy so we have to harvest early to be sure. Also according to Ms. Minh, due to the impact of storm No. 3, the rice was broken a lot, only reaching a yield of 2 quintals/sao, down 50kg/sao/crop compared to the previous season.

Lien Thanh commune has over 414 hectares of summer-autumn rice, of which 150 hectares are in flood-prone areas. Up to now, the commune has mobilized over 10 combine harvesters to harvest in flood-prone areas, and is expected to complete the harvest by September 3. Due to the impact of storms and rains, this year's rice yield is only 45 - 46 quintals/ha.

Mr. Nguyen Van Duong - Head of Yen Thanh Department of Agriculture and Rural Development shared: The district directed communes with over 85% ripe summer-autumn rice to harvest to avoid risks caused by floods. Up to this point, communes in flood-prone areas such as Lien Thanh, Vinh Thanh, Nhan Thanh, Bao Thanh... are harvesting. Mostly, communes rent combine harvesters to harvest, so the progress is very fast. It is expected that by September 5, over 4,500 hectares of rice in flood-prone areas will be harvested; by September 20, over 12,500 hectares of summer-autumn rice will be harvested.

Due to the impact of storm No. 3, Yen Thanh was flooded over 5,000 hectares during the rice heading and flowering stage, not to mention many areas that were broken, so this summer-autumn crop yield is low, expected to reach only 46 quintals/ha, (a decrease of more than 10 quintals/ha compared to the previous crop).
