Yen Thanh: Striving to have 11 more craft villages and villages with traditional crafts by 2020.

(Baonghean.vn) - On June 7th, the Nghe An Provincial Cooperative Alliance and the Yen Thanh District People's Committee held a signing ceremony for a cooperation program to develop the collective economy, small-scale industries, and traditional craft villages for the period 2016-2020.

Currently, Yen Thanh district has 53 agricultural and handicraft cooperatives. Of these, 14 have ceased operations and are awaiting dissolution. The district has 13 traditional craft villages and 17 villages with recognized crafts.

Representatives of the Nghe An Cooperative Alliance and leaders of the Yen Thanh District People's Committee signed a cooperation program for the period 2016-2020.

Over the past period, Yen Thanh district has issued many appropriate mechanisms and policies to promote the development of the collective economy, small-scale industries, and traditional craft villages. As a result, to date, the district has established 17 new cooperatives and transformed them according to the 2012 Cooperative Law; these are gradually becoming operational and effective. The remaining cooperatives will complete their transformation before June 30, 2016.

In the field of developing small-scale industries and traditional craft villages, Yen Thanh district's goal for the 2016-2020 period focuses on industries and trades closely related to the lives and activities of the people, such as: mechanics, welding, automobile and motorbike repair, civil carpentry, garment making, and processing of agricultural and forestry products.

Regarding vocational training, Yen Thanh district plans to open 15 vocational training classes each year, with a training budget of 3.75 billion VND; striving to have an additional 6 villages with traditional crafts and 5 craft villages by 2020.

To promote the development of the collective economy, small-scale industries, and craft villages in Yen Thanh district in the coming time, the coordinated program between the Nghe An Cooperative Alliance and the District People's Committee, until 2020, will focus on the following key areas: Coordination in information and communication; building exemplary cooperative models; building production value chain linkages; training and fostering cooperative officials and vocational training; building craft villages and villages with traditional crafts; recognizing artisans and skilled craftsmen, etc.
